Naumberg Bandshell
in Central Park

The home base of Dance Is Life is now just a few dance steps away from Bethesda Fountain, at the Naumberg Bandshell, with its spacious stage and dance floor nestled at the foot of the Mall in Central Park. There is plenty of space to spread out, jump for joy, and invite everyone who passes by to join.

Hudson River Park’s
Pier 76

Two dancers share a joyful partner dance moment at Hudson River Park during Dance Is Life with golden-hour waterfront views.

In 2023, Dance Is Life expanded to Hudson River Park’s Pier 76, in a partnership to bring the free public service to a new public park. Pier 76 opened the same summer that Dance Is Life was launched, in 2021. This scenic pier is part of a 4-mile stretch along the Hudson River, now permanently designated as open space for public recreational activities, thanks to the Hudson River Park Act that passed in 1998.

Hudson River Park’s
Pier 84

Dance Is Life expands to Hudson River Park’s Pier 84, a historic waterfront destination with deep roots in movement and community. Originally built in 1924, Pier 84 welcomed Olympic athletes, foreign dignitaries, returning WWII soldiers, and thousands of immigrants beginning their journey in a new country before traveling to Ellis Island. Today, the scenic pier offers an open-air public space along the Hudson River, creating a vibrant setting for dance, connection, and collective joy.

NEW JERSEY

Carousel building Asbury Park

Dance Is Life travels to the historic Carousel Building in Asbury Park, New Jersey for a special seaside edition of community, music, and dance. Once home to the Palace Amusements carousel, this iconic open-air structure now serves as a beloved public gathering space along the Asbury Park waterfront. With its grand arched windows, ocean breeze, and rich cultural energy, the Carousel Building creates a magical setting for community members to come together, move freely, and celebrate joy by the shore.
